Barrio Logan Photo Walk About – Rescheduled
Feb 8 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Highlights of the outing include the Coronado Bridge, the Barrio Logan Gateway Sign, and, of course, Chicano Park.
Afterwards we’ll enjoy delicious Mexican food for lunch at El Carrito Restaurant.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and anticipate walking 1-2 miles.  Dress in layers and don’t forget water.

9:00am Meet at Cesar Chavez Park

Free parking lot located 1449 Cesar E. Chavez Parkway
Take in and capture views of the Coronado Bridge.

9:45am Kelco Historical Community Mural

Intersection of Cesar Chavez Pkwy & Harbor Dr.
This mural represents the history and future of the people, ocean and
waterfront industries of our community. Artists include Salvador Roberto
Torres known as the “architect of the dream of Chicano Park” and Gloria
Torres

Located beneath Coronado Bridge.
Chicano Park was designated an official historic site by the San Diego
Historical Site Board in 1980 and its murals were officially recognized
as public art by the San Diego Public Advisory Board in 1987. The park
was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013 and was
designated a National Historic Landmark in December 2016. The 7.9
acres park is home to the largest concentration of Chicano murals in the
world with more than 100 paintings.

El Carrito is a cable car from the 1930s; located in front of a Victorian
home (the Dobler residence) on a lot that was bought by Al “Pelon”
Johnston who restored the cable car into a restaurant after World War II
(1946/47).
According to their website they have the best chilaquiles in San Diego.

This workshop will be via Zoom and a link will be emailed to members only.  It will be recorded.

International Exhibition of Photography at San Diego Fair presentation on Zoom

The International Exhibition of Photography at the San Diego County Fair is one of the oldest and largest juried exhibits in the U.S.  This year’s Fair theme is “Summer Pet-tacular.”  Join us for a presentation with Lois Fong-Sakai, the Senior Coordinator of the photo show.  The presentation will provide information on how to enter the exhibition, deadlines, and answer any questions you may have.
