Exploring Black and White Photography

This workshop will be via Zoom and a link will be emailed to members only.

In this workshop we will explore the elements of what makes a good black and white image. We will watch a short slideshow of paintings from master painters that have been converted into black and white to highlight the rich continuum of tones that underlies each of them. We will also enjoy a short exploration of how color converts to black and white tones. From there we will look at ways we can purposely use black and white photography to enhance our color images. If there is time at the end, we will look at a short slideshow of black and white images from past and present photographers that will showcase the rich heritage of black and white photography across many genres and subjects. This workshop is meant to be informative as well as inspirational, with the hope that those who have never tried black and white photography will be encouraged to do so and that former black and white photographers will dive into this rich world again.
