What Is Building Hosting?

The Photographic Arts Building (PAB) is Poly’s meeting place and provides gallery space for member images. It is provided to Poly as part of Poly’s annual dues to the Southern California Association of Camera Clubs (SCACC).

SCACC has a lease agreement with the City of San Diego for a modest cost and is obligated to open the PAB to the public. After a long hiatus due to COVID, the PAB will be open beginning June 3 on Saturdays from Noon to 4:00 pm.  SCACC assigns each club the responsibility of hosting the PAB in proportion to the number of the club’s members.

As a Poly member, you are required to host the PAB at least once each year —  from March through February of the following year. If you have not yet volunteered, please sign up now

Building Host Duties

Two members will open the building, put out a few signs inviting the public to come inside and answer questions about Poly and the other SCACC member photo clubs. There is a lockbox next to the front door that contains the building keys. You will receive the lockbox code in an email prior to your hosting date. There’s a list of hosting duties in the desk drawer in the front room of the PAB. Most members find hosting an enjoyable experience.
