We will be arriving in Farmington on Sunday, October 19th. Our first day of shooting together will be Monday, October 20th. Then, we will leave on Thursday, October 23rd. You have the option to fly or break up the drive however you choose.
For an optional extension of the trip, arrive in Monument valley on October 18th and end the trip in Page, Arizona (Horseshoe Bend) on October 24th.
A list of hotel options was emailed to members along with a detailed itinerary. Points of interest include Bisti Badlands, the Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness, and De-Na-Zin Wilderness, specifically Bisti Wings and Hoodoos, Valley of Dreams Alien Throne, and Cracked Eggs/Alien Egg Hatchery. Also included in the itinerary are the Aztec Ruins National Monument, Salmon Ruins, Shiprock Monument, and Chaco Culture National Historical Park.
Bisti Badlands and the De-Na-Zin Wilderness are remote areas where we are not likely to have cell phone service. It is highly recommended to download offline maps on your phone in order to navigate hikes and drives. GPS coordinates of each location will be provided to attendees during the trip. The roads are not paved and the hiking areas are not marked trails. Therefore, it’s easy to lose your sense of direction. If you have walkie talkies/two way radios, please bring them. We will sync them up so we can communicate without cell service if needed. Although the hikes are relatively flat in terms of elevation, it is rocky uneven terrain. The itinerary includes links to Youtube videos of hikes and drives in the area. Also, here is a link to more information regarding Bisti Badlands and the De-Na-Zin Wilderness to read at your convenience. https://www.thewave.info/BistiBadlandsCode/Map.html
We will have a planning meeting on the evening of Tuesday, August 26th at 6:30pm via Zoom. A reminder and zoom link will be sent out closer to the date.
